I was always told, "Do what your collar can support". In my case being a NCO it wasn't going far. In his case and cases like this, their collars are more than wide enough to support the ignorance that is happening. The bigger issue is BEFORE we bring in the political BS, is the fact we now know that HRC, Her predecessor, his replacement, and others ALL did the same thing. Is it a systemic training failure, or a culture of not caring? In these cases, I'm leaning on the second one. Lastly if you think it's limited to them, I'd bet anyone here dinner, there are flag officers who have done the SAME thing. The culture and mindset of RHIP needs to end. It's gotten worse and worse, and now we're finally seeing the "fruits" of this "labor". Here's an idea, assign a E9 to every senior official with the express intent of informing them they are "F*cking up" and the consequences of their actions. I intentionally mentioned enlisted being you would "think" there is less politics at our level, and I don't know a CSM/SGM/MC/Chief who wouldn't relish the idea of digging their boots into elected officials butts.

MAJ (Join to see) - Sir I'm not sure of your angle except you do not like the President and that is fine, but the bigger issue with this is that even under Bush there were administration personnel who also used personal emails for work purposes. That would include Colin Powell and Condy Rice being guilty of this. This is why I mentioned the problem isn't a political partisan issue, but a systemic failure where a culture of aloofness has been allowed to persevere. If they are guilty of this, I'd imagine there are more people guilty of this who are wearing stars on their shoulders. This RHIP culture needs to end. Has nothing to do with terrorism, violence, or religion. It comes down to accountability, integrity of self and office, and a desire to do the right thing.

SSG Warren Swan - I have a love/hate relationship with my Frito ebook. Emergency battery shut down wiped a two paragraph response to you. Here goes fading thoughts repeated:
You make great points and explain your position very well. You greatly right. That said, Condi Rice is brilliant Russian Area expert. She was brought in to brief Pres. Bush and he was smart enough to hire her. She and GEN Colin Powell are genuine American Patriots. Neither feathered their own nests thru government position. That can NOT be said for Hillary. Condi may not be the best large Organization manager, but the State Dept DID NOT lose $6 billion $$$ on her watch.
GEN Powell overcame racism by being a tremendous role model for peers, superiors, and a great number of subordinates. Four Star generals tend to have a lot of subordinates. Do not let the eastwards smear Colin Powell. Did you know: when his Ranger buddies (just graduated 25 lb average weight loss), went to the Columbus steakhouse, Powell was refused service (he had cleaned up, [ I get snarky, when PO'ed]). His Ranger classmates protested and walked OUT. To avoid being placed "off-limits", the restaurant CAPITULATED, all WAs could freely eat there. Combat Arms, stick together, my brother. Back in 1978, Rgr Tng Bn NCO's designated me, CPT JEB, an honorary SFC, a high honor (I personally thought I might hold my own as a rifle squad leader, but not Platoon SGT). So, if I am taking liberties, I wish to apologized. My big beef with POTUS is he lied on his state bar application (and was caught, he has never been licenced to practice law, but was given an affirmative action pass. He was never a law PROFESSOR, he was a lecturer. He only taught the 14th Amendment, not the Constitution OR the other twenty five amendments. So in effect,he is expert on 2% or less of the U.S. Constitution. He is a fraud and the Progressives let him and Michelle get away with it. They were Che Guvera shirts in Cuba. He was a murdering communist. US SF A Gmail. 12 men brave and strong TRAINEd the Bolivian Ranger Bn that hunted his band f thugs down and shot his sorry butt. Real History. Do you know how black peasants, not in the commie party are paid and treated in Cuba. I do not think our POTUS does, or he does not care!

MAJ (Join to see) - Thank you Sir for the clarification, and NO I didn't know about Powell having to endure that. In many articles I've read on him, he never mentions much of the bad, but how to remain strong for the long haul.
In regards to the POTUS, I'm not going to try and sway you Sir. While I'll admit he's done some questionable things in office, his "legacy" won't be known for another 20 years. I don't think Bush's legacy will be seen for another ten it it's full glory. I didn't know he wasn't Barred in IL, and didn't know he was only limited to teaching the 14th A. On that I thank you and will look this up. HRC is another story all together. I KNOW she's crooked, but with the bumper crop of stellar candidates, short of Kasich (who CLEARLY isn't getting any love from the GOP yet is the most qualified on the GOP side), there is no one else worthy of leading the US. HRC is the evil I know. I can deal with knowing that. Trump is the evil I know, but is too dangerous to try. So if I was voting this cycle, it would be a toss up between HRC and Kasich. But Cruz and Trump? HELLS NO. We as a country deserve better than either one of them. You have one who has never followed, so how can he lead? You have another who doesn't give a shit who he pisses off, just as long as he gets his way. That much is typical politics, but what makes him different, is he shut the country down to prove a point, and threatened it again. We cannot absorb that in the WH. That is a childish and dangerous way to operate.

SSG Warren Swan - Well, you did not chastise me for taking liberties. Tell me please, does my designation as an honorary SFC, carry any weight with you? Star Wars: There is 'try', young Jedi, there is only 'DO'! Just joking, but with my wife after 43 years, it is do-do, with me. Never worked for GEN Powell, but somewhere in collected UNCL papers I have a copy of VII Corps, " Follow-on Forces Attack" concepts staff study, I wrote, that his 2yr Levenworth (School of Advanced Military Studies), G-3 PLans officer wrote all over (later BG L'Orange, if my memory is right), then LTG Powell, then V Corps Commander, signed off on it, "Good Work" and other pithy and incisive comments. He sent the original back to LTG Andy P. Chambers. (Both heavy Corps were commanded by Black LTGs, did you know that?). Anyway the Corps Chief of Staff, a cavalry BG who created chaos every day it seemed, gave it to the G-3, who gave it back to me. I must have re-read the whole thing (20-25 pages) more than once. GEN Powell loved soldiers, he only got to command V Corps like seven months. He did NOT want a promotion back to D.C., his change of command was played on AFN, and man was crying. I think 41 (Bush Sr. Republicans) treated Powell fair, What say you? You are right about much. Who ever we elect I hope they GROW. If the Repuke elites thwart the voters will, their END is at hand. Trump has a number of problems, and if he does not get murdered, he will do as much as he can what he says. Of course, he has said a lot. S.Korea should pay, Mexican border must be fenced, LEGAL immigrants deserve all rights, Illegal immigrants Should have no rights except human rights- no jobs, no free schools, no free healthcare. No invented Syrian Muslim refugees should be imported to U.S. whatever workers ARE needed in this country for jobs Americans won't do (I think this is BS) SHOULD be issued legal green cards. Govt can hire people to process the workload. 524 th Personnel Servive Company in 1975 created records for 27,000 Viet refugees. No computers, clerks could barely type and could not read regs. SP6's could not issue simple orders. Infantry 1LT had to teach unit NCO school on Saturdays the outstanding SFC dining facility manager team taught with me. AG Co. Cdr, had been Cobra pilot in VN, branch transferred after crash injuries, backed me to the hilt. I stayed away from AG the rest of my limited career. Refusing a Recruiting CMD assignment to Detroit in 1978, did not help me either. I had great jobs, but was not competitive for promotion. SF in 1981, pulled post support but I got to command as a MAJ the very best NCOs. If I could, figure out my 2 yr old laptop password, I should write a book. SSG Swan, Woodbridge, your traffic is crazy. I go to the Smithsonian, I get on the Metro just North or at Fredericksburg. Hope you had a great Easter, it rained here, but ten family went to Longhorn Steakhouse in Hampton, Va. Had a great time, put a picture on FB.
