SGT (Join to see) I think along the same line as this author,Rick.Personal preference is a choice we all have and many people buy guns for the impression value.
For me,i have "tools" for logical purposes. My handguns are practical, easy to carry and ammunition is easy to find and not expensive.
My hunting rifles are the same --.7mm Rem. rifle(big game) -- .50 cal black powder Vortex(deer) --.22 cal 10/22 Ruger(small game) and 20 gauge Beretta for birds and waterfowl.

SGT (Join to see) - I had a .17 hmr that was extremely accurate for small game and varmints, but it was devastating for squirrels, unless it was an eye shot it tore them to pieces, even an angle on a head shot destroyed the upper part of the body.IMO the .17 holds a flatter trajectory than the.22,so you don't have to judge distance as accurately.

SSgt Terry P. - I've got an Savage A-17, it's the only .17 SA that I am aware of, it only runs the CCI .17 HMR that it was designed around, and I am well pleased. My .22LR is the Henry AR-7 survival model, also one of my pistols is a Ruger .22LR SA, I keep one mag of bullets and one of snake/rat shot ready for it.

Interesting article. I will refrain from commenting since I don't own any of those.
