One of my all time favorite movies of all time. People were standing up in theaters cheering at the action.

Capt Tom Brown, When it first came out I went to see it. When I realized how stupid it was, not only me, but several Vietnam vets got up and walked out. Now, I sort of understand the symbolism of the movie.

SGT (Join to see) - I can imagine a vet would be shaking his head if he expected Apoc Now to reflect any kind of reality. Like the last few minutes of We Were Soldiers, total fantasy meant to make an artistic statement. I enjoyed the hell out of both.

Capt Michael Greene - There was not any fantasy in We Were Soldiers. Joe Galloway is a friend of mine and MOH recipient Bruce P. Crandall was my CO when I got to Vietnam. The stories I heard from the crew members at Ia Drang Valley would curl your toenails. I flew gunner for MAJ. Crandall and he wouldn't talk about it to me. I was elated when the movie was made about the three day battle, and really elated when he and "too tall" MAJ. Ed Freeman were awarded the MOH.

SGT (Join to see) - No disrespect. I was majorly impressed by reading the real life stories of those gentlemen.
Referring to the last few minutes of the movie: Moore regroups and mounts a ground attack which causes the NVA general to give up the area, bugging out of the caves. Then, choppers arrive with dozens of press people who interview the troops at the scene.
Now, I wasn't there, but every account--including interviews with veterans who were there--say that the movie ending was "total Hollywood" fantasy. That's why I said "Like the last few minutes of We Were Soldiers, total fantasy meant to make an artistic statement."
