Sounds legit to me! I let other meats get to room temp before going on the smoker or grill. Now I will do it for my bacon as well!

As one that has lived outside of the US since retiring in 2006, I run into many different theories on what good bacon is. Europe and New Zealand breakfast cookers tend to have floppy bacon. When we go camping and I cook bacon, I make it crispy. The kids prefer my bacon. Apparently their parents like the five minute type.
I have a cast iron burger press. I find that it is great to put on top of the bacon to keep it flat since some bacon tends to curl. I little bit of water (very little bit) in the skillet is a new thing for me as well. I think that it helps.
Also, cut the raw bacon in half. It is much easier to fit into a skillet. (Wash the scissors afterwards)
