Chicago could soon have as many as 5 democratic socialists on city council

Chicago is almost bankrupt. We saw similar with Detroit as the cities finances got more and more desperate, the quality of those elected to the City Council dropped through the floor, corruption and cronyism increased and a number of them ended up in jail. Detroit's bankruptcy swept most of them away. Chicago is following the same pattern. These people are only getting elected because the voters are in a stage of desperation and want to force change. I grew up in Milwaukee and we had three socialist mayors in time of desperation. They were swept aside when fortunes changed. Socialism has no staying power in the United States.
