I have read the treaty. And I read much more than talking points. That was my argument on the other thread. I watch the actual hearings, I go in and read the actual minutes. I know most of the talking points the republicans use and to be fair some of the dems too are taken out of context. We are talking about the future of our world! Not just here. If the entire world doesn't get on board then it's over for all of us. The only other 2 countries that did not get on board are Syria and Nicaragua, Syria can't possibly get involved and Nicaragua has already bypassed the entire world and converted over starting back in the 70's and continued to push for it and ignored the big oil companies that pushed back. If you think the only countries that are crying are the ones that will get money you are wrong. It is almost the entire world. The goals are put there for 13 years not for them to wait till the last minute but to give them time to implement that is why China has stopped production on many of their polluting facilities and switched to green. They avtually peaked in 2013 and started switching to green enegery at that time in areas as test proveniences. The main purpose of the Paris agreement is a peer pressure arrangement, to get the entire world on board. The 2degrees is a lowball number to just get the ball rolling in hope that the technology developed will help it drop even more. The biggest goal is to stop it from rising 5 degrees before the next century! If that is all that is accomplished then it is still a win.
Talking points are what Trump listens too and lives by. Like Climate change isn't real! Pushing for big oil and coal! That is exactly what he campaigned on! after the pipeline is completed then the jobs there are gone. The oil is not staying here. Even the coal mines will never open to full capacity according to the coal industry. At least 6 coal mines have closed down since November and its due to the change in Technology! Trump lied to every one of those people in coal country and it will show in the next election, those that don't die from not being able to pay the high risk pool insurance that is after they lose all of their benefits!

Unless he starts pushing for training and jobs in clean energy technology we are going to be left behind. He said he doesn't want the world laughing at us! Most of the world is laughing at us! At least him, an then the pitty those of us that did not vote for him.

The ones saying that the world would end were a select few. There were plenty that have been peer reviewed and the files have been saved. Trump is the one that made the scientist afraid all of that data was going to be lost so they backed it up and sent it to other scientists around the world. Trump is also the one who has cut the budget for research in those areas. He denies climate change. The entire world loses! Sharing of technology and scientific data is one of the most important parts of saving this planet in the Paris agreement. Trump acts like the Paris agreement was a financial burden that was placed solely on us. We are not the only developed country in the world. And as far as it goes China would not qualify as undeveloped either. It is talking about countries that have nothing, the governments have nothing! Small countries without much of a population. It also didn't put an amount on how much the US had to give. The entire thing is nationally determined, the amount is set by what the countries goals are and then a fund to help the smaller countries financially and/or technology, information etc.... all for a common goal. To encourage full participation it is nonpunitive and set up as to not put undue burden on any country. The leaders of the G7 conference tried to explain this to him but he was just not comprehending it. I am sure he did not even read it, he is not known for his ability to focus on anything like that. He just wants bullet points. Any of his advisers could have told him that the US was the only country that had to support the rest of the world and he would have believed it. China will pay for themselves and that is why they have 13 years. But they have to clean it up for us too. You sound like my kids!
