Back in the day, soviet ships trailed our fleets pretty much every where we went. We were smarter and did it with subs, to them. No big deal. There used to be a soviet "fishing trawler" just in international waters off Norfolk.

This sort of thing as the article says, has been routine for many years and one suspects it is done nowadays more to twist our tail than of any significant tactical use. With modern technology there is probably is very little need to physically keep track of a carrier on the open seas. We had a 'fishing boat' shadowing us the entire time we conducted flight operations back in the good ole days. It's worth a note in passing but nothing has changed over the years between the US and the ChiComs.

Oh Yeah I remember the Old USSR "Fishing Boats" with more Antennas than Fishing Nets. Some things never change.
