SGT (Join to see) the Chinook is the workhorse for the Army, great helicopter. I have been told that in straight line distance, it is the fastest. What a beast.

SFC Joe S. Davis Jr., MSM, DSL, Have you ever seen the flying crane in action? Talk about a beast.

One airlifted me from the USS Wichita to the birdfarm, where I flew a COD to Clark, then on home, when my brother died.

CSM Charles Hayden - It's a place where birds go home to roost, CSM! :)

Colloquially known as a Carrier. COD = Carrier Onboard Delivery. Only it takes things off, too. Like young Seamen who have family emergencies.

CSM Charles Hayden - Well despite today's (seeming) lackadaisical view of e-9's, I 'grew up' in an era when they put the fear of God in me. So far be it from me to question you, CSM! Lol.

I too am glad to see the Chinook upgrade program move towards approval SGT (Join to see). It is one of the few helicopters that can operate well in high altitudes such as the mountains go Afghanistan and Pakistan. As Neil Young sang about his first car "Long may she run" to the Chinook and the crews of that workhorse.
