Chris Christie compares Ron DeSantis' stance on Ukraine to appeasing Hitler before WWII

While I might agree that it isn't DIRECTLY vital to US interests, it is absolutely vital INDIRECTLY to our interests.

The US has shared interests with Europe about stopping the expansion of Russia through direct physical conflict and on a larger scale, we can't allow countries to devolve back into the "overt might makes right" in dealing with their neighbors (we're never going to get away from 'might gives a special type of influence').

Luckily, not all Republican leaders view the conflict as do the former president and DeSantis. In realpolitik terms, breaking the back of Russia, which seeks at every opportunity to undermine US influence, at the cost of zero American lives is a net positive for the globe. I forgot to mention that in 2014 and 2015, then-Congressman DeSantis repeatedly asked that President Obama send offensive and defensive weapons to Ukraine after Russia illegally annexed Crimea. At one point, in an interview with a conservative talk radio host in June 2015, he said, "We in the Congress have been urging the president, I’ve been, to provide arms to Ukraine. They want to fight their good fight. They’re not asking us to fight it for them. And the president has steadfastly refused. And I think that that’s a mistake." I find that very interesting.
