Here we go again. First, please don't complain about the news source. I had to search long and hard to get one that people wouldn't summarily dismiss without even bothering to read it. This subject is important. Somehow the socialists have gained traction in the US. They're even openly advocating their failed philosophy. Hell, all the Democratic candidates for President are climbing over each other to attract voters with socialist ideas. Meanwhile, one of the craziest has been working its way through the Senate: Price controls. In a free market (I wish we had one) vendors and consumers as well as producers who act both as vendors and consumers, make millions of purchasing decisions every day. They make cost/benefit decisions based on their needs and desires. Goods and services find their value in these transactions. How can anyone or any government bureau make rational purchasing decisions for us? The answer should be obvious to all but a socialist and the ignorant. It can't. Arguably, this is the tripping point for every socialist experiment large (The Soviet Union) and small (The Pilgrims, yes those Pilgrims). We see it today in Venezuela and we've seen it in the United States (August 15, 2021 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Wage and Price Freeze announced by President Nixon on August 15, 1971 in a televised broadcast to the Nation. Nixon’s speech launched the U.S. economy into a decade of unprecedented turbulence, punctuated by episodes of hyperinflation, shortages, high interest rates and stagnation) If Grassley's drug cost bill is enacted, or if any of the present crop of Democratic contenders for President is elected and back by a Democratic majority in Congress, it will take a new Revolution to restore America (if it is to be restored at all)
