They have to do something with all that substandard housing they have. I got to Ft. Hood and went to housing. What they were planning on moving me in to could only be responded to with "are you shitting me?" You want me to give you 1350 a month for this garbage? If they had better housing on Ft. Hood, there wouldn't be a need to rent to Civilian renters, but we refuse to live in housing that's worse than section 8 housing for mortgage prices.

True , they should put the soldiers in the better of the housing and carry out a planned renovation of the housing in the worst shape and or demolition. Then as housing is renovated , put soldiers in them and put the recently vacated ones on the renovation listing again. Establish a cycle this way , soldier live in the btter ones while the bad ones are "fixed up " or demoed and replaced as the budget allows.

Well, there's your answer. I thought it might come up. My son-in-law was stationed at Ft Hood and he and my daughter lived in a neighborhood in Killeen. I wondered why but did not ask.

I really think base housin should be for military members for the safety of the base and everyone living on base.
