Do they even "broadcast?" Or do they call under "Cable?"
It is not that I disagree with your point, but there may be technical hurdles that don't apply.
Additionally, the "media" has no LEGAL obligation to report truth. They might have an ethical one.... however omission and soundbites can create "lies" as well.

Although most of us receive CNN via cable, I believe they also broadcast. In any event, the FCC is controlling cable broadcasts as well as broadcast over the open airwaves, and their rules pertaining to obscenity and decency are being applied in both venues. Also, the FCC will not intervene in cases of "news distortion" unless it receives complaints with compelling evidence that it is engaged in intentional falsification of news
