MSgt Neil Greenfield interesting article, I think I have read about 4,239 different monday morning quarterback opinions about this and every school shooting. Can we ever be truly ready?

It's a pretty sad day when we have children killing children in this (or any) country. There will be an inevitable rush to ban firearms as a result of the actions of a mentally unstable young man. What's really sad about this whole thing is that many people are saying that they weren't surprised when they learned the shooter was Cruz and a former student. The school administration had actually forecasted this behavior - stating this particular student should not be permitted on campus with a backpack. Something's wrong with that assessment if you ask me. Somebody actually called the FBI and reported this guy wanted to shoot up a school six months ago. The FBI investigated, and while I'm not supportive of arresting somebody for "words", maybe that would have/should have been enough for an involuntary commit for a psychiatric evaluation - leading to a prohibition on firearms ownership. It's a slippery slope, that's for sure. What justifies starting somebody down the road to a firearms prohibition? I dunno, but if they could prove this guy made those statements? That's a pretty good start.

Virtually ALL of the mass shooters are taking psychiatric medications - perhaps that should be a disqualifier right there. You get better, you get off the meds? Great, you can get your rights restored. These shooters all seem to lack a social life - that is life in the real world. They've got fascinating online (fantasy) lives... and that's part of the problem. And what about family life? This kid wasn't living with mom & dad. How come? And was there a strong male role model in his life? Doesn't sound like it. All triggers (excuse the pun...) towards extreme antisocial behavior.

How are kids indoctrinated towards such violence? Thank you Hollywood. Kids have been watching horrific movies since they could sit up. Online video games - kill, kill, kill. Ironic, isn't it, that many in Hollywood will decry this real-life violence and talk about how to punish those that haven't broken the law.

This guy says it all much better than I can: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bDyacwHYAok.

This can easily be resolved, how many of your Constitutional rights are you prepared to give up? Snopes excerpt, citing Hitler.

Whether this quote could be considered “true” in the sense that it compactly paraphrases an idea that Hitler once expressed depends upon how one interprets its meaning. The book Hitler’s Table Talk, 1941-1944: Secret Conversations records Hitler as having said the following sometime between February and September 1942:

The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subjugated races to possess arms. History shows that all conquerors who have allowed their subjugated races to carry arms have prepared their own downfall by so doing. Indeed, I would go so far as to say that the supply of arms to the underdogs is a sine qua non for the overthrow of any sovereignty. So let’s not have any native militia or native police.
