I noted the author's comments regarding intangible benefits, i.e.e image perception. What is the perception of India's armed forces?

The look seems to be that there is a benefit to training with others - but our perceptions are that the actual planning pieces of these with the Indians are far more difficult than actually doing them due to their bureaucracy and its red tape that is often injected. Such is perceptions.... am sure that is a note many nations also place on us as well.

Absolutely agree that the training itself would be beneficial on a number of levels, I'm just not aware of (not that I would be) of USA's training participation rate with India.
