I read and re-read the article.
I do not see what this so-called "back channel" is that they (The Daily Caller and Breitbart) are referring to.
The "red phone", or more properly known as the Moscow-Washington Hotline (or MOLINK) is not a "back channel", but a means of secure, direct communications between the President of the United States and the national leader of Russia.
This is a direct, proper channel between national leaders (not leader-elects).
The messages typically carry (on the US end) the marking "EYES ONLY - THE PRESIDENT".
Not "EYES ONLY - THE PRESIDENT-ELECT" or others.
Note that, more than 35 years later0 there still remains a contentious conspiracy theory involving a President-elect, the so-called "October Surprise conspiracy theory".
To our American hostages held in Iran from October 1979 through January 1981: While you should never have been taken hostage, I am extremely grateful you were freed; and I wish you were freed earlier .
Our President, at any given time, should and must be able to communicate directly, through a variety of means, and in a timely fashion, with any world leader.
One could well argue that the Secretary of Defense and the Secretary of State should have similar capabilities.
The same is not true for most of us Americans not elected to or appointed to (and not yet sworn in or subscribed to the oath of office) to those positions.

COL John McClellan
I had the same reaction, COL! Bad article. I suspected it was a hype/propaganda piece, but sometimes I'll open these anyway to see what their journalistic standards are. Don't see any here...

I will not answer anymore questions as that might incriminate me, .. that's final! hahaha that's so funny. .... who cares people want to find allegations of something on anyone they don't like and if they can't find it they make it up just to confuse the public. Seriously

Back or "Black"? He was the President, he still knows the same players from before, so once out of office, you're supposed to stop being "friends"?
