Does this now mean that they did not fight for the Confederate Army? Maybe we should rewrite history and delete that word? Maybe if we did, some people could sleep better at night, well.... until they found another thing to be offended by.

I can obv perceive the reason, given the whole thing with the Confederate statues having been removed...on the one hand, I can of course agree with it being historically lamentable...on the other hand, I can equally agree the Confederacy having been historically deplorable, simultaneously, as well as totally and completely unnecessary...inevitable, perhaps, as was the Civil War, though both lamentable, and also deplotable, all the same...having all that Confederate stuff banned from public display is, whether one agrees, or disagrees, an aspect of inevitable sociologic progress, it was gonna happen, bound to happen, sooner or later...it's been oer 150 yrs since all of it, caused a whole lot of useless, pointless, worthless heartache all for nothing, except, of course, to free the slaves, and, in my view, such a ban is both clearly warranted, as well as absolutely necessary...I can completely comprehend the whole "pulling on the thread of the tapesty" thing, and the whole tapestry then gradually "unraveling", however, this is no longer the latter 19th or early 20th century, as a society here, and, for that reason alone, the whole thing as decided here was absolutely inevitable, as well as, in my opinion, also absolutely necessary, just as would be getting rid of all the monuments, as well as, eventually, all Confederate symbols on state flags, also...the whole states' rights thing, in my view, was and is pure la-la land fantasy, absolute and completely escapist rationalization, nothing more, honest....

SGT (Join to see) - Sergeant; Since the ban was a rider attached to a "must pass" bill (the 2017 Military Construction and Veterans Affairs appropriations bill proposed by a Democrat), I wonder how the vote would have gone if they had been free to vote on the actual issue rather than risk being accused of being "anti-veteran" if they voted against the bill because they didn't agree with the rider?
