Thank for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on April 3, 1776 the Continental Congress gave privateers permission to attack any and all British ships. Of course privateer crews were considered to be pirates and if caught they would be treated as pirates with no quarter offered.

It's all good if you have a Letter of Marque issued by a King or Congress otherwise You are a Pirate but if you are caught Letter of Marque or Not the Enemy will treat you like a Pirate and Hang You.
