There are quite a few things that this Pope says that I am not fond of. I try and keep my religion and my politics separate. I wish he would do the same but it looks like that will never happen.

MSgt (Join to see) - I prefer to avoid re-litigating Roe V. Wade. My Litmus test is: Can I make a sound, rational argument, without resorting to scripture to support my assertions. I feel that I can make a very strong argument against abortion, with no religious support to my assertions. None-the-less my moral compass is heavily influenced by my theology, and my vote is heavily influenced by my moral compass.

You have that right Heather, politics and religion are not really compatible.

MSgt (Join to see) - I too wish he would concentrate on being Pope and not a politician. There are times I have thought about becoming a Lutheran because of the things he has done or not done. Like the lackadaisical handling of the child molestation by priests which happens world wide not just in the US.

True. The child sex abuse by priests is a horrible stain on the church.

Did anyone know that Jackie Kennedy had some kind of an involvement with Jesuit Preists. Whatever I was reading on the Internet 4 years ago showed her a some reception in the sixties. I'm still looking for a pill hat with the matching handbag from the sixties. In fact, that is how I ran across the article about her.

I pray much strength to the Pope.

In his book "The Kennedys: America’s Emerald Kings" Journalist Thomas Maier devote some time to Jackie Kennedy's declining mental heath and a crisis of faith after her husbands assassination. A Jesuit priest, Richard T. McSorley, S.J, had a significant role in her recovery.
