Back in 1974 I made a cross country trip from California to Massachusetts via automobile. My car started on a container ship that left from Hawaii as I had been stationed at Hickham, AFB, HI My intent was to drive across the USA and see as much of the country as I could. In CA i visited Yosimite National park, the Sequoia National forest, the Monteray coast area, Pebble beach San Diego then across Death Valley. I rod across sections of the old Route 66 and visited a place called Grand Canyon Caverns, (its no where near Grand canyon) but is underground with stalagmites and stalagtites and is reach by an elevator that goes 850 feet below the ground surface. I did visit Grande Canyon and the four corners area. I had a a foot in two state, my hands in the other two states so was in four states at once. I of course have a picture to prove it. I spent the night in Cortez, Colorado and of course had to hit a bar and have a Coor's Beer.

The following day I went to Mesa Verde National park and saw the clifff Dwellings. Hit Silverton, CO, the Gunison River area, the Colorado National Monument then visited a young lady I knew in Aurora, CO (She was a former airline stewardess but then a Dispatcher for the Colorado State Patrol) and visited Lowry AFB, CO where i had been stationed before Hickham, AFB, HI Stopped in and visited one of the guys I had worked with at Whitman AFB, MO. From htere continued on home to Massachusetts.
