Be careful when using a credit card in Mexico. Most merchants and employees are honest, but some unscrupulous ones will fraudulently add unrelated charges.
That last bit of advice is something most people don't pay attention to. How many times have you gone out to eat and at the end of the meal just hand over your credit card to the server without a second thought.
The warning is doubly-applicable in situations like this.
