Court: NY Cannot Force Pregnancy Centers to Hire Pro-Abortion Workers

On 2/27/2023, a nonprofit proLife pregnancy resource center in New York, Evergreen Association, won its lawsuit to selectively hire employees with similar convictions due to the organization’s “right to freedom of expressive association.”

A federal appeals court ruled that New York cannot use its 2019 “Boss Bill” law to force pro-life pregnancy resource centers to employ people who have a pro-Abortion conviction.The judges wrote that the right to expressive association “allows Evergreen to determine that its message with be effectively conveyed only by employees who sincerely share its views.”
