We can reach those who are currently in with the available training and services available. It's the Veterans that are harder to locate. Some are down on their luck, addicted to drugs, living on the streets; it's a bit difficult to track. While we can save ones who have located themselves with close family members, community functions (church, Legions, VFWs) but there are a few who are so secluded because they have nothing to go for.

To receive help, you have to want help. These veterans know what's out there for them, as far as help. The ones who have disappeared, are lost forever, I'm sorry to say.

When I read this I think back to boot camp. We had people that did not know that you actually use soap when you shower. They were never taught it. It was the way they were raised.
I think the same of sexual assaults and suicides. It is a culture that some may have not been exposed to. There may be some out there who's moral code is distorted because they don't know any better. Not only do we have to teach that it is not OK, we need to have young SMs that enforce what is right. It is as much a cultural thing as it is a training thing.
