Thanks for reminding us TSgt Joe C. that on December 23, 1968 the crew and captain of the U.S. intelligence gathering ship Pueblo were released after 11 months imprisonment by the government of North Korea. The ship, and its 83-man crew, was seized by North Korean warships on January 23 and charged with intruding into North Korean waters.

We kinda dropped the ball when it came to this ship and crew. The Captain's wife did more to get them released than our government did. Their M-2s barley worked, their Gunners Mate didn't KNOW anything about the Ma Duece and they had to cut up 55 gallon drums to burn classified! What a goat rope, and they came through it mostly OK. My hat is off to the crew of that debacle.

The U.S. and North Korea almost went to war over a single poplar tree in the demilitarized zone
Operation Paul Bunyan (no joke) was serious business
