Culture Shock for departing JETs

My article for a presentation delivered for an organization that supplies English teachers to the public school system in Japan.

Due to the differences between the civilian and military cultures, members from one place transitioning to another place will experience feelings of disorientation, confusion, surprise and even anxiety. For example, not being able to tell the difference in what is appropriate or not due to having difficulties in assimilating coupled by strong dislike and disgust about certain aspects of the new culture will take place.
