SGT (Join to see) - So far behind that having discussions about cybersceruity and doing nothing about it, is letting Russia intervene and do whatever they like doing with the information held so dearly by the USA.

Good article. The problem with cyber security, information security, information assurance, etc., is the lack of focus on not just the technology, but 2 very important pieces of the puzzle, people and process. Technology is the easiest part to implement. Having good processes to support mission/business requirements is absolutely important. Third piece that's critical is getting people to understand what you should and shouldn't do. That's the hardest part of the equation.

Good article. My attention was drawn to the sentence, "general trend for the user to be seen as an attack vector." I know that *most* times a hack happens because a user clicks an email with a link, then is tricked into opening the link. That happened to me once during my long years with computers. That one ate my machine.
Ransomware is scary. For the private user the only response is to reinstall the OS. Paying the perps is insane. You have no way of knowing if they'll de-encrypt your files like they promise to do after payment. And worst case, which is plausible, they take a lot more money than they said. I've heard of hospitals being taken for 50 or 100K.
Sounds like a good time to invest in companies that do cyber security. But that won't do any good if the Black Hats (evil cyber criminals) take our country down.
Again, and I'm sounding like a broken record, the "Russian Hack" never happened. (Not with the election, though I think elements of Russia have been involved in other hacks). I'm 99% sure of that. That was, in my opinion, a political ploy. Which p!ssed me off (start WWIII over politics? I'm allergic to nuclear radiation), but better to be p!ssed off than p!ssed on.
