Dan Rather, An Unlikely Essayist, On 'What Unites Us'

Sorry ... but Dan Rather lost me when he let his personal politics influence his professional reporting. At that point, he went against what "freedom of the press" was meant to guarantee for the American people. I've read this NPR article, and there is nothing in it that inspires me one iota ... or causes me to think any more highly of Dan Rather than I do. He, like others, climbed the mountain of his profession, then fell off. A bit like Petraeus in my mind. Sad ... but it is what it is.
