Tamanna died on Sunday, along with NPR photojournalist David Gilkey, when the Afghan convoy they were traveling in was attacked by Taliban fighters.

May those who put their lives on the line in war and peacekeeping efforts, be honored because of men like them. Men who have risked everything to tell the stories and to help show the realities of what is faced by our brave men and women who have fought and continue to fight for our country . What they and other wartime photographers and interpreters have done in their brave commitment to shed light on that which is inherently dark, is noble and worthy of great admiration.
"When the journalists' remains arrived by helicopter at Camp Shorab in Helmand Province — where the U.S. Army 10th Mountain Division has a training mission — an honor guard of "dozens and dozens" of U.S. soldiers stood at attention and saluted."
A deserved honor for them indeed.
