We need to get past "guilty by association politics." I don't know how many appointments there are in the De Blasio administration. I'm sure hundreds. Does anyone think that Mayor De Blasio expected or endorsed this kind of action from anyone on his staff. I don't and I think a randomly chosen 15 year old would probably do as well as mayor of NYC. Sooner or later someone we know, like, and maybe even employ is going to do something stupid. The fact that we know, like, and maybe even employ them doesn't mean that we approve of the stupid thing they did. Perfection is exhausting.

The Mayor is pushing an agenda. The mayor’s position is clear. You can not say “ oh so and so shot up an area, I guess they didn’t get the message.

LTC David Brown - What in the article led you to believe the shooting had anything to do with Mayor DeBlasio's agenda.

Maj John Bell - Mayor DeBlasio is clearly anti gun. His aids, Staff etc need to follow his script. Clearly this lady wondered off the reservation.

LTC David Brown - Just because the guy she works for is anti-gun, doesn't mean she has to be anti-gun. I'm not even sure she is obliged to tell the mayor she owns a firearm, or for that matter, that he knew she was packing.
In service I worked for a couple of tea totallers. I did not give up my wine at home or for that matter at a CO's/CG's officers' call. As best I can recall, neither did any other officers.
The only thing she needs to do own the weapon legally, stop popping of illegal shots, or letting other people illegally pop off shots from her car, and fully cooperate with the police. If she doesn't she needs to be suspended without pay, which has already been done. I'm not even sure that Mayor DeBlasio can legally ask in person, or use his authority to check the database to see if any of his appointees legally own weapons, during the vetting process.
I don't think much of Mayor DeBlasio, but he gets a pass from me on this one.
