There are state veteran's homes in all states, and all enlisted personnel pay into those homes. BUT - there are not enough beds in these homes to accommodate all the veterans in need of services. Ditto at VAMC's. This is why private SNF beds are needed. This is a crisis in the making...

As long as the care they are getting is acceptable, and VA is covering the costs...
Sir, great but sad post. With the .50 that the government took from us to support the Soldiers Homes, is ALL of that money accounted for in those? If not, could some of those funds be used to offset the balance so that these vets could be taken care of properly, OR facilities made that could support them and their needs at government expense? We have a load of excess former installations and parts of current ones not being used to their potential. Why not use them? Personally I wouldn't want to uproot these ladies and gents, but if it'll make their lives easier, why not?
