No I did not know that Sgt Kelli Mays that the bubonic plague had been around for several thousand years; but that is not surprising.
I was first inoculated against it in 1974 at the Fort Leonard Wood, MO reception station just prior to basic combat training.

LTC Stephen F. I didn't realize we had an inoculation for the Bubonic Plague....can anyone really catch it?

Sgt Kelli Mays - I was inoculated against it twice at times when military personnel were being deployed to areas where bubonic plague was prevalent. Bubonic plague is still frequently carried by rats and there are some cases in this nation every year - at least there were.
