I can relate to this, “She says it takes a village to raise a child, but it takes a bigger village to bring a combat veteran home, to really bring them home, because it is a long road and not an easy one.” We really do need to come together to rally around combat vets. In my husband's case, it was not only when he first came home. It was a good 3ish years (post OIF/OEF) before things really started to change in him. There were virtually no support resources at that point. Much has developed since that stage, and I'm grateful for that. But at that moment in time, it pains me to think of what life would have been like (or how short it had been) if he were alone with no support system and advocates.

We just got back from a project sanctuary retreat for couples and saw how two people reacted when they read the article so I decided to share again along with the song from joe walsh no man's land

War is hell, Hollywood makes it look so clean and fun. People who are in battle are changed. Something that Hollywood doesn't seem to show.
