I'm a vitamin skeptic. I think we need to spend more time on a balanced diet (macro nutrition) with whole foods, and less time on supplements (micro nutrition). As a livestock farmer, long term macro nutrition trends are critical to my bottom line. I literally pay in veterinary services and poor production (quality and quantity) for poor nutrition in the herd. I literally conduct monthly blood test to determine long-term nutritional deficiencies and to develop herd nutrition plans.

Micro nutrition supplements are expensive, and quite often micro nutrition supplements create chemical imbalances that prevent absorption of vital nutrients. Most people popping vitamins do not have the knowledge to know when they are creating dietary imbalance. The end result can be very expensive urine. The nice thing about balanced diets that don't depend on heavy supplement use is that you are less likely to create chemical imbalances that prevent the absorption of vital nutrients.

Right, but he also mentions foods that contain said vitamins. Vitamins in pill form are for those that doesn't have the time or resources to consume vitamin rich foods

SSgt Ray Stone - The problem is that unless the person knows how to match those vitamins up with all the supplements they are taking, and the normal food they are consuming, they may well be literally pissing those supplements down the toilet, to no effect in their nutritional health.
