Just because we have free speech doesn't mean we should give voice to every crass remark that crosses our minds. We're talking about real wounds to real people and making light of it in an enduring format. What makes this trauma fair game and other trauma not fair game. Hope your comments don't come back to haunt you.

Maj John Bell - I may have started this with my feelings about male privilege . . . which has made far more senior members (and often far more junior) members of the military, civilian, and government communities act like mindless animals around me . . . but, in all seriousness, I see hope for wounded military service members . . . and many civilians with injuries and birth defects . . . in modern functional and reproductive work. So many medical miracles have helped and continue to help patients with rather embarrassing and deeply devastating reproductive wounds, birth defects, and injuries. Warmest Regards, Sandy

Plenty of sub-systems go into making a penis work (prostate, anyone?). Nerves. Hormones. Etc. Simply having one transplanted onto a woman who wants to be a man (which is what I'm assuming you're talking about, the end of male privilege) will not give her a functional wanker.

SN Greg Wright - You may be correct re functional fertility . . . but as I read the underlaying medical journal articles . . . the goal is to produce a fully functioning and sensate penis . . . to replace male (servicemen in particular) who suffered a penis wound. No one is seriously discussing transgender patients . . . but what about an AIS (Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome patient (population approximately 50,000 today) XY male who has genes that do not respond to androgens (e.g. testosterone) so they have no penis . . . it may be conceivable we could justify providing a penis to AIS patient in this circumstance. Warmest Regards, Sandy

PO1 Edward Spencer - This looks like the penis enlargement surgery you mentioned. The new story is for patients who do not possess a functioning penis. Warmest Regards, Sandy

Capt Tom Brown CW2 Lindsey Muller I think Lindsey knew I was being mostly serious. Fact are facts. It sounds like a painful operation to us men that shy away from those thoughts and facts are facts. There are some women out there that wish there husbands had more in that department and will push them to get things made larger. And I still say OUCH
