'Don't Do It:' Senior Leaders Say Soldiers Should Stop Taking Mandatory Online Classes

This decision should not be passed down to Soldiers -- Senior leaders need to "kill" the requirement. Don't set Soldiers up for leadership policy failures. If you let Soldiers set the standards, then many requirements will not be met.

Ok, so, call me crazy, here, guys, but......

If these trainings are mandated by Army policy only (i.e. not by DoD or Congress) and he is the Army chief of Staff.... ummmmm.... why doesn't he simply kill them? I mean, he has that authority.

And if they are mandated by DoD or Congress, who the f*ck is he to tell people not to do it?

I know the Officer oath is different, but my oath required me to obey the orders of Officers appointed over me, according to regulation and UCMJ. I expect no less of CSA and SMA.

So we have "senior leaders" telling soldiers to violate regulations that those same "senior leaders" (or their predecessors) signed off on -- and we have general officers stating that they have been ignoring those same regulations for years knowing that the regulations constitute general orders under the UCMJ.

My response to SMA Grinston would be "Get your head out of your ass and fix the problem instead of telling soldiers to ignore any regulation they don't like."

I wonder how Gen James McConville would feel about it if a soldier walked by without saluting him and the excuse when stopped was "People actually do this stuff? I don't have time." After all, if it is up to each individual to choose which regulations they have time to follow, that should be good enough, right?
