As we move into November many are preparing for Veteran’s Day, extending their thoughts and efforts towards the brave men and women who have served their country. Downs Designs Dreams will also be revamping their efforts to assist more veterans through their Support-A-Veteran Adopt-A-Jean Program. As a veteran myself I have been thrilled with the success of our program during its first year. It has been an amazing journey and our organization is proud to have assisted individual veterans, hospitals, and veteran groups. Our organization is also very thankful for the amazing efforts by The United States Department of Veteran’s Affairs, forming a national partnership to aid the mission.

Recapping the program’s partnership: Downs Designs Dreams has donated 166 Pairs of NBZ Jeans and khakis to 7 different VA Hospitals across the country. The responses and letters following these donations fuel our motives and trigger uplifting emotions. The organization was humbled to have attended The White House's Inclusive "Design For All" event which highlighted our program's mission. Our efforts have been assisted by generous donors, business’s such as Jenniffer & Company who created office fundraisers and sponsored requests, service learning projects within schools like Hawken School’s 4th-grade class, and Good Running’s charity fitness program throughout the month of June. 100% of our program’s funding goes towards completing our veteran requests.

As the program continues to grow, now moving full steam ahead the organization is driven towards the path ahead. We are determined to raise the program’s mission awareness, helping us locate more veterans we can assist. We are also actively engaged towards building additional partnerships and shared fundraising opportunities allowing the program’s success. Our goal for the month of November is to complete a large request of 107 pairs for veterans within Chicago and implementing the program within a Tampa-based veteran hospital.

Whether you are a veteran, family member, community member, or vocational worker you may be aware of the dressing difficulties and limited clothing options available to those with disabilities. Our clothing has several adaptive features aiding dressing independence but emphasizes a sense of fashion that can be proudly worn by anyone. We assist various veteran populations including elderly, Parkinson's, amputees, stroke victims, ALS, arthritis, combat injuries and more. You can personally receive or help veterans with these daily living challenges through our Support-A-Veteran Adopt-A-Jean Program. Downs Designs Dreams would like to thank all of our nation’s veterans and all those aiding our mission.
