They've alwas been here for us, the problem is usually getting appointments and I frankly don't see this Coronavirus situation helping that.

Lt Col John (Jack) Christensen I guess I am very lucky here in San Antonio Texas. I have never had a problem getting an appointment. As a matter of fact, Veterans from the Houston area and Veterans from the Corpus Christi area prefer to drive all the way here to get treatment. Our Audie Murphy VA, I believe is one of the best top notch places...and I think because we have so many bases here in one place....and we have a ton of retired Veterans here that the VA has made it more accessible than other centers...maybe? I really don't know. Not only do we have the main hospital, but we have several clinics and this VA will send you to the outside if they can't get you in within one month.

Sgt Kelli Mays I had a couple folks who worked for me that used the Tampa VA, usually took them 4-6 weeks to get an appointment for primary care, longer for a specialist.

Thank you for sharing Sgt Kelli Mays! I just hope there is as that same level of concern at the local VA hospitals & clinics...as there is from Dr. Stone...

I have heard stories about VA night mares, but I have not personally experienced any problems. I have always received prompt attention....but, with that said...now with the COVID-19....it's probably going to be crazy. The first Veteran died here in San Antonio at FORT SAM a few days ago....or SAMSE...Joint base He was a retired guy...not sure which branch.

VA works but you have to be patient and play by their rules. I don't need it but I earned it. So I use it, and have been provided for. You can't be pushy but don't be afraid to be your own advocate. Don't accept no. I've called the VAMC Administrator's Office when all efforts were exhausted.
