I mean we could try to fix both problems but that would require both sides to be genuine and I don't think that's the case for either side. However I think 3rd graders being shot at school is more tragic than people who inject drugs into their system and die because of it and should probably be prioritized.

PO1 Jeff Chandler I’m saying republicans would kill the bill if democrats put it forth. Much like dems would kill a bill allowing abortions if republicans introduced it because both sides want a “win” neither side is genuinely interested in serving their constituents because then it would be harder to get elected.

PO1 Jeff Chandler creating conflict gets them elected. If politicians solved problems then they would have to find other issues to run on. If there’s no more gun violence then there’s no more push to get rid of guns which means the NRA doesn’t need to pay elected pawns to stall talks about policy change. Don’t take that as a personal opinion about what should be done about guns I’m simply pointing out that controversy and conflict are what keeps our democratic system split into two parties because instead of taking a logical, intricate look at policies we’ve devolved into an all or nothing political landscape. I firmly believe that there are no politicians above the state congressional level that have any kind of integrity whatsoever.

PO1 Jeff Chandler yes but we get the options the system gives us and that corporations and special interests support… I mean somehow in this country voting for the third person running is considered wasting your vote. It’s absurd. Career politicians hold us hostage with the option of left or right and Americans are too stupid to stop it. Kids keep dying from guns or drugs and were too busy wasting time and money on useless border walls or fighting proxy wars or enforcing ineffective drug laws or worrying about books in schools or pronouns to stop it.
