Fentanyl is being ‘made’ in Mexico with the chemicals obtained from China...so, who’s responsible? The Cartel is in charge of manufacturing and distribution. Open borders allow the ease of smuggling drugs into Our Country. I saw a documentary on this subject and actually watched the ‘chemists’ create this synthetic opioid...

And not just the Mexican border. A lot comes from China and elsewhere as well.Part of the problem is the sheer volume of freight that comes into this country, mostly in containers. About 11 million maritime containers arrive by ship every year, another 11 million by truck and 2.7 million by rail. Obviously mandates or not they can not all be searched. CBP has neither the time or the resources, all they can do is search the ones they determine to be high risk and spot check the rest. Same with smuggling, I heard testimony from the Commandant of the Coast Guard. He told Congress that we had intel on about 75% of the illicit drug shipments, but only had the resources to intercept about a quarter of them. When you think that they seize in the neighborhood of about $6B a year, the numbers become staggering.
