SGT Dave Tracy This is as stupid as saying that Tuskeegee Airmen didn't feature enough diversity among the segregated fighter squadron. This moron should have done some research, or maybe a quick google search before putting that tripe in his review.
I saw the movie on Friday in 70MM, and left the theater not knowing whether I liked the movie or not. I certainly found myself squirming in my seat a lot. After thinking about over the weekend, I think it was shorter than expected. It left me feeling like it had been a much longer film. Despite the actors who received top billing, this was more of an ensemble film in which no one character is portrayed as being more important than any other character. All told, the film was designed to have the audience feeling as if they were a part of the film, not just watching it on screen. So the more I think about it, the more I think I liked it. Though I admit that taking three days to decide that I liked the movie is odd in itself.
The reviewer is a putz. It is writing like this that is driving people away from traditional news outlets.

I had heard of some in the Twittersphere make diversity complaints about the movie, but that's just random people making random comments. This was the first such comment from the "mainstream" I've seen, and the reaction this reviewer is generating is telling in and of itself. Heck, if it wasn't for the reaction, I wouldn't have even heard about the reviewer's opinion.
Regardless of this or any reviewer, I do plan on seeing Dunkirk sometime...along with all the other big flicks I've missed this year: Guardians, WW, Cars2, Baby Driver, Rough Night, Spiderman...(Man, I'm way behind!)

SGT Dave Tracy - You have some catching up to do. I would suggest seeing Dunkirk in 70MM if you have it available. It has the feel of going to an old school movie, fitting with the subject matter.

SGT Dave Tracy - I'm right there with you brother. I need to go see WW and DM3.

SGT Dave Tracy Hey, they complained when a movie about monsters at the great wall of China starred Matt Damon, because he wasn't of Asian descent. They simply want to have their way and dictate to EVERYONE what can be said or done. Typical libtard behavior.

MSgt Stephen Council I also heard Godzilla is pissed because there weren't enough authentic Oriental monsters as well.

From all the photos I've seen of English soldiers from WWII; I don't recall seeing a whole lot of diversity in the ranks, with the exception of the Gurka and Indian troops that fought with the Brits and some of the Irregulars in Burma and North Africa. It wouldn't surprise me if the lack of diversity within the BEF was a factual occurrence and the lack would be seen in the absence of people during the evacuation.
Wonder if there is any data on the racial composure of the British Army around that time, if there is then we could extrapolate a number of those from the different racial groups that could have been expected to be seen on the beach out of sheer chance. So if the racial mix was 1/ 100 we'd expect to see 3000 folks dispersed through out the formation. It would still be a BS number, but would be better than causing hurt feelings where there may be no cause for it.
As I see it ,the offended should tell the rest of the world how many folks they believe could have been there based on real data gathered, not just that folks should insert someone into a historical show for the sake of putting someone there.
