Perhaps if you would be less concerned about how bad green is and look at the jobs this emerging technology will create you could understand the need. You honestly sound like a horse farmer around the time vehicles with internal combustion engines were becoming more common in society. Change doesn't mean the end of the world and this type of change certainly isn't going to be instantaneous

LTC (Join to see) You are only partially right on the only the very wealthy can afford solar panels. That may have ve been true a decade ago but the technology has reduced costs significantly. I looked at it, had some experience with solar pool heater on our home when stationed here in the 80s so knew pros and cons. Ultimately decided against it but the upfront cost wasn't the factor. I've got another 5-10 years before the roof needs to be replaced and solar panels more than double that cost so when that was factored in the savings just weren't there.
What you fail to grasp is that green energy production reduces the need for nuclear and fossil fuel produced energy. Yes it will most likely always be needed but if its use can be just cut in half the environment comes out a winner, and that's good for everyone.

LTC (Join to see) No one is going to force you to give up your Challenger Stephen. Californias latest bill prohibits the sale of new ICE starting in 2035. California is not banning the sell and transaction of used ICE vehicles or private sell. You have more of an issue with dodge no longer making parts to support the old chargers and challengers once they start producing the E-Muscle division come 2025. You'll be able to keep driving your car as long as you can afford to via gas and maintenance. I'm sure within the next 5-10 years Ev's will be at a point to where the common man can afford them.

PFC (Join to see) I live in Canada and we don't have those restrictions. Since the Dodge Challenger has outsold the Mustang and the Camaro And the body style has been almost identical since it came out in 2008, I am sure they'll have plenty of parts available. I can get every single part pretty much for my 1966 Mustang. In 2000, I converted to a GT lookalike
and I was able to find every part I needed to do that. I am sure there will be lots Of parts available. I won't have to go to hemmings motor news to get parts..

I don't think the price of batteries are going to be reasonable anytime soanytime soon considering that the rare Earth metals come from outside the USA.

The MP Company is supposedly the only mine in the USA That's extracts and then exports rare Earth metals to China for Processing to make a battery. The stuff is so Poisonous it can't be done in the USA. I have 50 share of stock in that company.

LTC (Join to see) Correction, it can be done in the USA. The problem is, as with most things sent offshore, the cost to do it would eat into corporate profits. At one time the US and Canada were the only major source for rare earth minerals but corporate greed shipped processing to China rather than pay for safely processing them in the US and/or Canada.

Slavish adherence to any ideology is really dumb. Canada can refocus on their Green Agenda after a real enemy is defeated. If Russia were to succeed in dominating Europe, does anyone think that they would care about solar and wind (especially since they have petroleum to sell)?
