The study's author still advocated wearing masks...

“We think you should wear a face mask at least to protect yourself, but you should also use it to protect others,” lead author Henning Bundgaard told The Washington Post. “We consider that the conclusion is we should wear face masks.”

The fact is the masks do not work. Like I said, wear it if you want. But I refuse to be a mindless sheep that follows the hurd.

LTC Eugene Chu And pray tell where the lead author stated this in the actual study report?

Conclusion:
The recommendation to wear surgical masks to supplement other public health measures did not reduce the SARS-CoV-2 infection rate among wearers by more than 50% in a community with modest infection rates, some degree of social distancing, and uncommon general mask use. The data were compatible with lesser degrees of self-protection.

Sol where is it in the report?

Another item that appears to be ignored in the article except for a single reference to a Japanese study report is that the study was on use of "surgical" or "surgical grade" mask.

Here's another 43 studies, most of which were done pre-COVID, that question the efficacy of masks by trained medical professionals in clinical environments. These articles were not published for consumption by the general public. They were published in peer reviewed academic journals

Now imagine the results and lessons learned when discussing masks used by the general public. The general public has little or no training in the fit, wear, disposal and limitations of masks; and they definitely don't wear their masks in a clinical environment. In some cases the studies have shown that masks may in fact do more harm than good.

The efficacy of masks IS NOT settled science.
