The last Frago From the DoD pretty much said unless it directly contributes to the health of soldiers, and their ability to stay well, its not essential.
Hell, they shut down all organized PT. So, this just looks bad for those commands.

However, one can also make the argument that well-trained Infantry personnel will help keep EVERYONE alive (including themselves). In this case, I disagree, but I can still hear some Commanders making this argument.
