Domestic terrorism connected to white supremacy and white nationalism is, and continues to be, the most deadly form of terrorism since 9/11.

Apparently some people have trouble with compound words... To point out other examples;
Illegal Immigrant - According to many on the left, this is synonymous to immigrant. They are not the same.
Democratic Socialism - According to many on the left, this creates a distinction between socialism as we know it (say in place like Venezuela) and "good" socialism, when the two words are in fact a contradiction.

Webster's Dictionary - Definition of nationalism
"1 : loyalty and devotion to a nation
especially : a sense of national consciousness exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups."

There is nothing here about race. One can certainly argue that the distinction between nationalism and patriotism is based on a feeling of superiority over all other nations vs simply having a strong feeling for one's nation. But we need to stop tying the word to racial superiority. I don't recommend being the guy who tells a foreigner that our country is better than theirs. It's not only disrespectful, but what makes our country great is the fact we absorb the many qualities of other nations into our own.

CPT Bob Coleman - I'm not sure where any race issues came into this. I just checked all of my comments. I never said anything about "white" nationalism.
Regarding your definition - is that a hard copy of the Merriam Webster Dictionary?

Because when I go to Merriam Webster online, I get this definition: "a sense of national consciousness exalting one nation above all others and placing primary emphasis on promotion of its culture and interests as opposed to those of other nations or supranational groups." https://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/nationalism

Now, if I just Google the definition, I get the Oxford Definition which is VERY similar to yours, "identification with one's own nation and support for its interests," except that yours is missing this part, ", especially to the exclusion or detriment of the interests of other nations. "

But again, I never applied race to it at all.

What I don't like about Nationalism (not "white" nationalism) is the second part of the Oxford definition - "especially to the exclusion or detriment of the interests of other nations." We are a global community. There's no getting around it. The days of tribes, villages, and similar groupings are dying - we are becoming globalized, which I consider to be a GOOD thing, overall. Humans are human world-wide - I am not better than the Humans in Canada just because I was born below a specific arbitrary line of a map. I do not think America is better than other nations just because I happen to live here. If America IS better, then it better be ready to support that position with facts.

Patriotism on the other hand, is "the quality of being patriotic; devotion to and vigorous support for one's country." There's no application of a negative or exclusion to other countries or peoples. I will rarely argue against Patriotism. However, I will argue vehemently against Nationalism.

CPT Bob Coleman - Yet people self identify with that moniker and it is a broadly understood term.

CPT Bob Coleman - Apparently it's been in use since at least 1970 as an attempt by white supremacist groups to rebrand themselves from the increasingly problematic phrase of "white supremist".

Like many phrases, the two words together apparently have a different meaning than their independent component words. Kind of like the Deutsche Demokratische Republik wasn't particularly democratic. ;)

My wife and I were watching this on the news and she turned to me and said "It's a good thing we don't look too Mexican or we could get shot too". A very sad time we are in. If a white supremacist/nationalist/whatever wants to come for me, my wife, or my children because we are Mexican, they better hope they kill me.

MSG Stan Hutchison - Ok, I kind of agree with that, but if they think they will be supported in their hatred by Trump, then their weak minded and poorly mistaking. Let me know if you think the guy in this video makes any sense or not please.

SGT (Join to see) - OK,, I got through the first minute. However, when anyone even hints at ignoring a person's basic legal rights, I turn off. This guy did not hint at it, he came right out and advocated for it.
So, I'll find other paces to gather information than tis guy.

MSG Stan Hutchison - If you have the time, please try to watch the whole thing. Yes, I know that the shooter is assumed innocent, has the right to a trial, and have an attorney to provide him legal defense and counsel. That's the way our justice system works and I agree with it. The shooter will be provided with all of that no matter what anyone says. Things that he says later in the video are interesting I think. I was just wanting your overall opinion on it, not just the first minute.

I am Hispanic and I look white and I think it's really stupid that there are crazy copycat killers are out there. Now Democrats are again are going to try to say that it is now time to ban assault weapons like Australia. Remember the crazy psychiatrist from Fort Hood who killed a bunch of soldiers with automatic pistols(handguns).

SSgt Ray Stone - It's ok if you don't want to watch that video, I understand. I won't try to encourage you to do anything you don't want to. I know it would be painful for you to watch, and I wouldn't want to make you feel uncomfortable. I apologize.
