White anger and racial violence - Nonsense. Economic despair - dead center bullseye. The left keeps warning of right-wing politically motivated violence. I guess they do not need to warn us of left-wing politically motivated violence, since that is already here.
In either case, we are talking about, and giving credibility to infinitesimally small portions of the population. The worst thing is we hold the 1/100th of 1% up to our opponents and scream at each other, "LOOK! LOOK!! LOOK!!!, this is what you are." It is not what we are anymore than Ted Bundy is White America or Richard Ramirez is Latino America.
I do not engage in conversation with people who are emotional, screaming, or kicking me in the shins. So if you want me to listen to you valid concerns here are my conditions: No emotional diatribes, no screaming hyperbole, no insults. If you can't meet those conditions, please save it for someone else.

The problem with exposing the southern strategy now, is that people react to it by being stubborn instead of accepting it and moving on. Legitimate conservative concerns have been pushed very successfully by attaching them to racial tension, but now that there has been some backlash from the "silent majority" there is this time-wasting scramble by right-wingers to yell "see! look! its not us being racist!"
Why not acknowledge that base instincts were exploited to maintain conservative political power in red states? If cons & neo-cons really want to take the moral high-ground against neo-liberals who practice a different form of exploitation, then really take the high ground instead of denying your own movement's history.
