So many people right now, especially from England I noticed, seem to think that their opinions matter in U.S. electoral politics. I could see the average American voter not caring at all what a foreigner thinks about our elections, and possibly even voting in defiance.

Another was because the British government was demanding that the American colonists pay for services which they demanded but which the British government didn't want to supply (like killing the Native Americans with whom the British had signed treaties guaranteeing them the ownership of land that the American colonials wanted to take away from the Native Americans so that it could be sold to land speculators at bargain basement prices and thus ensuring that those land speculators would "donate" money to fund political causes).

You should also remember that the British based shippers could land goods (for example tea) - duties and fees paid - cheaper than the Colony based smugglers could land them.
