Fun fact: the F-18 is the only aircraft in history to successfully dogfight whilst on the way to a bombing mission.

GySgt John Olson - Good point, Gunny. I believe his comments were directed at same generation equipment, which, in 1917 and earlier, all aircraft were more or less equally capable. Of course some had machine guns sync'ed with the propeller, which was considered "high tech" compared to those with biplane aircraft with the gun mounted on the upper wing.
