Woodrow Wilson taught that We the People should be governed by the best among us, intellectuals. The Constitution, in his opinion, was a bad design for a government. Congress, in his opinion, was a collection of rabble. The President, in his opinion, should have greater authority, much like the Administrative State we have today. The Declaration of Independence, in his opinion, was an obsolete document. Ignore the preamble he taught. God-given rights was nonsense. Woodrow Wilson set us on the path to where we find ourselves today. He would've laughed at Milton Friedman's quaint tale about a pencil. An intellectual could better manage the manufacture and distribution of that pencil, set a price for it, and keep it our of the hands of people not qualified to use it properly.
