Facebook and Twitter suspended several right-wing accounts with large followings, as voting closed in the US election.
The newly created but quickly popular accounts had been posting information about voting that violated their policies, the companies said.
Facebook said the accounts were suspended for “inauthentic behaviour”. Twitter said the accounts had violated its policies against “coordination”, which it uses to describe accounts that post the same content despite ostensibly not being linked, as well as other unusual behaviour.
One of those suspended, SVNewsAlerts, had more 78,000 Twitter followers, after adding more than 10,000 in the past week.
