I had a variety of thoughts while reading this article For starters there is no link between per pupil spending and results. There is evidence that increased spending can actually harm the outcome as schools tend to load up on admin staff, rather than anything that actually helps the kids learn.
Secondly getting kids to walk out of school is pretty easy.
Next up, I wonder how many kids or parents would support an extra hour of at home studying? Are they concerned enough with their own education, to put in extra effort on their own time?

I can't say about this as I don't know. I do feel many subjects do get the back burner to sports. Yes sports is more up front, really get the money rolling but - how many really mak a career in sports? Wouldn't it be better getting more support behind shop classes and such? So much is put into getting a college degree, getting the hi-end jobs, but let's face it, what is the back bone of the working society? There's nothing wrong with getting your hands dirty. I don't think many young people know just how much can be made in the "trades" and guess what - there's no gigantic student loans to pay back. Yes, music, arts and such are also important, but like sports, how many will make a living out of it. I played trombone in the school band. Because of this I got into the military under CAS program. Yes for me music was important and I do believe these students do have a gripe.
