unbelievable. I still don't get why. Is it because now veterans get respect? Are they just crazy? I really can't wrap my head around all this fake wanna be chit.

My guess is they have issues with themselves, and more likely have mental problems. The ones I have problems with are like this guy who actually receive something. The guy in the club popping off, who cares.

SGT (Join to see) This is sad. In this day and age when a minute portion of the citizenry is actually volunteering, it seems an inordinate number are claiming it. On most occasions I will not mention that I am a veteran. It is a personal choice. If there is some benefit to being a veteran, I would rather a business apply that to someone who has greater need than I do, so that they can continue to do good things for veterans. Then you have these asshats who never served claiming service to get all sorts of freebies. Though that I can understand to a degree. I mean free stuff is free stuff. It doesn't make it acceptable, but I understand why the asshats do it. The ones I don't understand are the ones who served honorably, and then impersonate something they didn't earn during their time in. Why? You served, that makes you better than 95% of the general population, why do you ruin it by saying you did more than you did.

I think the reason service members who have served honorably claim things they didn't earn is because in some small part they are not happy with the role they played or how other people view the role they played. When was the last time Hollywood made a movie about the courageous Food Prep Specialist who came in early to feed the S.F. group?

SPC Christopher Miller - If Hollywood made a movie about the daily life of a regular service member, first it would be a dark comedy. Second it would be Rated R, if not NC 17.

I'll tell you why. When I began going to the VA for PTSD group I was very naive. I thought if you were there you were a vet with PTSD. I was wrong. I befriended a vet who was having a hard time, and went out of my way to help him out. Then I realize he's been lying to me the whole time. He was trying to convince a Vietnam medic that he was treated by him and medi vac to a hospital The medic guy told him he was full of crap. That's when I realized he was a phony and I confronted him in front of the whole group. I went to our supervisor and told her about him. They did a real background check and sure enough, found out he was lying. They kicked him out. I was really pissed about him making a fool out of me, plus I really did have PTSD and chronic depression, and didn't need that shit. I swore that I would bust, or post phonies, busted for Stolen Valor. That's why. Thanks for your compliment.

I've met the same type from my generation in the treatment centers I have been at. It truly is disgusting, but I don't care so long as they don't falsely get benefits (i.e. money). Real sad people and I try not to waste time on them. I'm pretty sure many of them have other psych issues and I try to respect that, but it definitely has pissed me off a time or two.

Sgt William Biggs - I had heard of it, but never had expected it from someone already in the system. My main issue was being lied to and going out of my way to help that guy.
